# NutsEmu Privacy Policy

Effective October 9, 2026

This policy explains what personal information NutsEmu (the iPhone app) and the NutsEmu Companion
(the Mac and Windows apps) handle, and what Evan Bolton, doing business as Nuts Developing ("we",
"us"), receives. It goes with the NutsEmu End-User License Agreement.

## The short version

- **NutsEmu sends us nothing on its own.** No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no automatic
  crash reporting.
- **We only get what you choose to send us**, such as a problem report (Send Report) or a message.
- **The Companion checks your Patreon membership** to allow downloads. We never get your Patreon
password or payment details, and your Apple ID password goes only to Apple.
- **We don't sell or share your information** with anyone for marketing.

## 1. The NutsEmu app

**What stays on your iPhone.** NutsEmu keeps its Windows environment, the programs and games you
install, their saves, its settings and its logs in its own storage on your iPhone. None of it is
sent to us. Deleting NutsEmu deletes it.

**Problem reports (optional).** If you choose "Report a Problem", NutsEmu makes a zip on your iPhone
with:
- the note you write;
- your iPhone model, iOS version and NutsEmu build;
- NutsEmu's settings;
- the logs of NutsEmu, Wine and the Windows programs that ran.

Before the zip is made, IP addresses and email addresses are removed from the logs. The logs can
still contain the names of games and programs, file and folder paths, and account or user names
that those programs wrote, for example a Steam account ID or a Windows user name. **Nothing is sent
unless you tap Send Report.** The report then goes over an encrypted connection to our website
(nutsdeveloping.com, hosted by Cloudflare), which posts it, with your note, the game's name, the
NutsEmu build, your iPhone model and iOS version, to the private bug-reports channel of the NutsEmu
Discord server, where the NutsEmu team reviews it. Discord stores it under its own privacy policy
(https://discord.com/privacy). Our website doesn't keep a copy; it only counts reports per
connection for an hour to stop abuse. If sending doesn't work, NutsEmu offers the iPhone's share
sheet instead, and the app or service you choose handles it under its own privacy policy.

**Connections NutsEmu makes for you.** When you use them, NutsEmu and the Windows programs in it
connect to other services, not to us. For example, Steam is downloaded from Valve and talks to
Valve's servers, the built-in browser opens the websites you visit, and your games connect to their
own servers. Those services handle your data under their own privacy policies. Turning on Offline
mode in Settings stops Windows programs from reaching the internet.

**JIT.** NutsEmu turns on JIT through your iPhone's own developer services, using the pairing file
you provide and a loopback VPN app on the same iPhone. That traffic stays on your iPhone. The
pairing file is not sent to us.

## 2. The NutsEmu Companion (Mac and Windows)

**Patreon sign-in.** The Companion uses Patreon's sign-in (OAuth) to check that you have an eligible
membership. Our update service receives your Patreon user ID and profile URL and, for your
memberships, the patron status, the amount you are currently entitled to, your entitled tiers and the
campaign. We use them only to check eligibility before a download and don't store them. The update
service keeps Patreon's sign-in tokens for your session (up to 30 days, or until you sign out) so it
can check your membership again before each download. We never receive your Patreon password or
payment details.

**Apple sign-in.** The Companion signs NutsEmu with your own Apple ID. Your Apple ID and password
are sent only to Apple. Sign-in also uses a third-party "anisette" service (currently
https://ani.stikstore.app), which we don't operate, to generate the device authentication headers
Apple requires. The Companion exchanges device provisioning data with that service, never your
password. If you choose "Remember", your sign-in and signing keys are stored on your computer, in
the macOS Keychain or in Windows Credential Manager. They are never sent to our update server.

**Downloads.** When the Companion downloads a build, our update service (hosted on Cloudflare)
handles the request, including your IP address, as any web server does.

## 3. Patreon, Discord and email

When you join our Patreon, message us, or join a Discord server, those services handle your
information under their own privacy policies. We see what they show creators, for example your
Patreon name, tier and messages.

## 4. How we use what you send us

We use problem reports, notes and messages only to develop and fix NutsEmu and to answer you. We
keep them for as long as we need them for that, and then delete them (reports are deleted from
the Discord channel). We don't sell them, we don't
use them for advertising, and we only share them if the law requires it.

## 5. Your choices and rights

- You can use NutsEmu without ever sending a report.
- You can ask us what we have from you, or ask us to delete a report or message you sent, at
  evanbolton@nutsdeveloping.com.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have further
rights over your personal information. Write to us and we will help.

## 6. Children

NutsEmu is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

## 7. Changes

We may update this policy. The version that ships with a build applies to that build, and the
latest version is published with NutsEmu's licenses on nutsdeveloping.com.
